Cookie Policy

1. The one cookie

Predixn sets exactly one cookie, named predixn_session. It holds a random session token and nothing else — no account id, no email address, no preferences, no identifier that means anything outside our own database.

It is set when you sign in and cleared when you sign out. It lasts up to 30 days. It is httpOnly, so no script on the page can read it; SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent from another site; Secure in production, so it never travels unencrypted; and host-only, so it is not shared with any other subdomain.

Only the SHA-256 hash of the token is stored on our side. The cookie value itself exists in your browser and nowhere else.

2. Why it is strictly necessary

Without this cookie there is no way for the service to know that the request loading your dashboard is the same person who signed in a moment ago. It is not used for measurement, it is not used for advertising, and it is not shared with anyone.

A strictly necessary cookie generally does not require consent, and this one is set when you sign in whatever else you decide. That matters for what the consent banner does and does not do: refusing it never signs you out, never blocks a prediction and never hides your rating. If it could, it would not be a consent choice — it would be the service failing.

What the banner does ask about is the one thing here that is not strictly necessary: the first-party advertising measurement described in section 3, and the optional page and image caching in section 5. Until you answer, neither happens. Your answer is remembered on your device under predixn_consent and is never sent to us.

3. Third-party trackers, and the one measurement we do

There is no analytics tool, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no social embed, no session recorder and no third-party script of any kind in the Predixn web application. Nobody else is measuring you here.

This is enforced structurally rather than promised. The content security policy allows connections to exactly one API origin and permits no remote images, so a tracker could not phone home even if one were added by accident.

We do measure two things ourselves, and only with your consent. When an advertisement is displayed to you we record that it was displayed, and when you press one we record that it was pressed. Both go to our own API on our own domain and to nobody else. They exist so an advertiser can be told how often their advertisement appeared, and for no other purpose: they are not used to build a profile, they are not used to decide what you are shown, and they never affect your rating, your predictions or your standing.

If you reject optional technologies, neither is recorded and advertisements are still displayed. You can change your mind at any time: open Privacy choices from the footer of any page, turn Advertising and measurement off, and it stops immediately. You never need to clear your browser data to change an answer.

4. Storage that is not a cookie

This policy covers cookies and similar technologies — anything that stores information on your device or reads information back from it. Most of what Predixn keeps is not a cookie at all: it is local storage, session storage or a browser cache. The law treats them the same way, and so do we.

These small preferences are stored only if you allow Preferences in Privacy choices. None of them is an identifier, none of them is personal data, and none of them is ever transmitted anywhere. If you turn Preferences off, they are deleted from your device and the features keep working for the rest of your visit without remembering anything.

One item is treated differently. predixn_locale remembers the language you actively chose, so the site opens in it next time. Current ICO guidance on storage and access technologies gives exactly that — remembering a language a user selected on a multilingual site — as an example likely to fall within the appearance exception, so it is not part of the optional Preferences choice. It is written only when you pick a language, it is used for nothing but showing you the site in it, and it is never read for advertising or profiling. If you would rather it were not kept, clearing this site’s data removes it.

A second item is also outside the Preferences choice, for the same reason your consent answer itself is. predixn_install_dismissed records your answer to the invitation to install Predixn as an app — that you said "Not now", that the invitation was shown, or that you finished installing — so the invitation is honoured instead of repeated on every visit. Remembering a refusal is the only alternative to re-asking the question, so it is stored whatever you decide in Privacy choices. It holds nothing but a few timestamps, identifies nobody, is never transmitted, and clearing this site’s data removes it.

• predixn_favourite_competitions — the competitions you starred.
• predixn_favourite_matches — the individual matches you starred.
• predixn_board_collapsed — which fixture groups you collapsed on the board.
• predixn.seasonRecapSeen — the last season recap you were shown.
• ad_sticky_dismissed — that you closed the sticky advertisement in this tab.

All of these are Preferences and need your permission. Everything except ad_sticky_dismissed is in local storage; that one is per-tab session storage and disappears when you close the tab. Separately, predixn_consent records the choices you make in Privacy choices — it is stored whatever you choose, because remembering your answer is what lets us honour it and stop asking. The two favourites items can also be allowed on their own: the first time you star a match or a league we ask whether to save favourites on your device, and saying yes permits those two items and nothing else. You can turn that back off under Favourites in Privacy choices, which deletes them and leaves your other preferences alone. Choosing "This visit only" stores nothing at all — your stars work until you close the page.

5. The offline cache

Predixn installs a service worker so the app keeps working on a poor connection. It always caches the app shell: seven static files — layout, icons and the offline page. That is essential to the app opening at all and is not part of the consent question.

With your consent it also keeps a bounded copy of public pages you have visited and of team crests and competition badges, so the board redraws instantly and a tunnel does not blank the screen. Those two caches are capped and are cleared when you refuse. Until you answer the banner, neither is written.

It never intercepts anything other than a plain page request, never touches a request to our API, and explicitly refuses to cache the sign-in, registration, password and admin routes. No signed-in content and no odds can end up in the cache, with consent or without it.

• predixn-board-v1 — a copy of the public match board you already loaded, so it still opens if your connection drops. It never holds odds. Performance and offline.

6. Changing your choices

Open Privacy choices from the footer of any page. You do not need an account and you do not need to be signed in. You can accept all optional technologies, reject them all, or set Preferences, Performance and offline, and Advertising and measurement separately. Saving takes effect immediately: turning something off stops it there and then, and anything it had stored is removed.

A choice you save is treated as valid for 180 days. After that, we ask you to choose again — an acceptance and a refusal expire on the same clock, so nobody is asked sooner because of which answer they gave. We may also ask again earlier if what the choice covers materially changes. The record of your answer stays on your device under predixn_consent until you change it or clear this site’s data; being asked again does not delete it, and your next answer replaces it.

Rejecting optional technologies never signs you out and never blocks a prediction. The session cookie in section 1 is not part of the choice.

You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings. If you block the Predixn session cookie you can still read the public parts of the site, but you cannot stay signed in, which means you cannot make a prediction, play a duel or see your rating.
